Bob And Brad C2 vs Q2

The Bob And Brad C2, as well as the Bob And Brad Q2, are the two mini massage guns from the same manufacturer. Accordingly, many people ask themselves which of the two they should buy. I would like to answer this question in this article by comparing them in different categories. For this purpose, I bought both massage guns myself and tested them extensively.

Scope of Delivery and Attachments

I have already listed the scope of delivery of the C2 and Q2 from Bob And Brad in the table above. Accordingly, I will not list them again.

As you can see in the table, there are no differences between the two massage guns. They come with exactly the same accessories. This is the same as what is included with most massagers. For mini massage guns, the scope is actually very good. These often come with fewer attachments.

The only thing I would have liked to see in the Bob And Brad C2 and Q2 is a metal attachment. However, this is only needed if you want to use gel or oil for the massage.

Functionality

Both massage guns have five speed levels.

For the Bob And Brad C2, these are distributed over the following impact frequencies:

  • 1st Level: 2,000 rpm
  • 2nd Level: 2,300 rpm
  • 3rd Level: 2,600 rpm
  • 4th Level: 2,900 rpm
  • 5th Level: 3,200 rpm

The Bob And Brad Q2, on the other hand, has the following shock frequencies:

  • 1st Level: 1,800 rpm
  • 2nd Level: 2,100 rpm
  • 3rd Level: 2,400 rpm
  • 4th Level: 2,700 rpm
  • 5th Level: 3,000 rpm

So here, the two massagers don’t take much from each other. I didn’t really notice any differences in the practical test either. Nevertheless, the massage guns cover a very good frequency range. This makes them suitable for both relaxed and more intensive massages.

Only a deep tissue massage is not really possible with either device. The impact depth is too shallow for this. This is typical for mini-massage guns. Nevertheless, even here, the values of 8 mm (Bob And Brad C2) and 7 mm (Bob And Brad Q2) are not among the best.

Usability

There is exactly one difference in usability between the C2 and the Q2 from Bob And Brad. This is in the placement of the button. The Bob And Brad C2 has a button located at the top of the massage gun. The Bob And Brad Q2, on the other hand, has the button located on the handle.

The controls, in turn, are exactly the same. Pressing the button starts the motor. Pressing it again switches to the next higher level each time until the motor is off again. The motor can also be switched off by briefly holding the button.

The current power level is indicated by several small lights near the button.

Handling

Special attention is paid to the handling of mini-massage guns. After all, their advantage is their compactness, as well as their lightweight.

When it comes to weight, there is a big difference between the two massagers. Thus, the weight of the Bob And Brad C2 is 1.51 lbs (685 g) with ball attachment or 1.46 lbs (664 g) without attachment. The Bob And Brad Q2 on the other hand, weighs only 0.99 lbs (448 g) with ball attachment or 0.96 lbs (435 g) without attachment.

This makes the Q2 one of the lightest massage guns on the market. The C2, on the other hand, is quite heavy for a mini massage gun. On the other hand, it would be in the good range for “normal” massage guns.

Furthermore, the Bob And Brad Q2 is much more compact, which makes it easier to transport. The handle is also much narrower. However, it is also ergonomically shaped on the C2 and is easy to grip around. The handle is also rubberized on both devices, which prevents it from slipping out of hand too easily.

Power Supply

The C2 and Q2 from Bob And Brad have a non-removable, permanently installed battery. This has a capacity of 2,500 mAh in each case. This is enough in both cases to run the massage guns for several hours at a stretch.

This is typical for such devices. The only thing that bothers me is that the battery cannot be replaced in case of a defect. Instead, the entire massage gun has to be replaced.

The batteries are charged with the included USB-C cable. Unfortunately, a power adapter is not included. You have to use one from a cell phone or another device. Otherwise, you can only charge the devices on a PC, power bank, etc.

So far, everything is the same for the Q2 and the C2 in this category. Only when it comes to displaying the current battery status is there a difference. This is much more accurate on the C2.

Thus, the battery status is displayed via four small lamps on the Bob And Brad C2. The following applies:

  • 75 % to 100 % battery charge: four lamps light up
  • 50 % to 75 % battery charge: three lamps light up
  • 25 % to 50 % battery charge: two lamps light up
  • 10 % to 25 % battery charge: one lamp lights up
  • 0 % to 10 % battery charge: one lamp flashing

The Bob And Brad Q2, on the other hand, is indicated by a single light:

  • 30 % to 100 % battery charge: blue light is on
  • 20 % to 30 % battery charge: red light is on
  • 0 % to 20 % battery charge: red light flashes

Noise

In my test, I also tested the respective volume of the massage guns at all levels. For this purpose, I performed a measurement from a distance of 40 cm.

For the Bob And Brad C2, I determined the following values:

  • 1st Level: ~ 49 dB to 50 dB – similar to a radio or TV
  • 2nd Level: ~ 47 dB to 48 dB – similar to birds chirping
  • 3rd Level: ~ 48 dB to 49 dB – similar to a radio or TV
  • 4th Level: ~ 49 dB to 50 dB – similar to a radio or TV
  • 5th Level: ~ 50 dB to 51 dB – similar to a radio or TV

Using the Bob And Brad Q2, I measured the following volume levels:

  • 1st Level: ~ 46 dB to 47 dB – similar to light rain
  • 2nd Level: ~ 48 dB to 49 dB – similar to birds chirping
  • 3rd Level: ~ 48 dB to 49 dB – similar to a quiet radio or TV
  • 4th Level: ~ 50 dB to 51 dB – similar to quiet talk
  • 5th Level: ~ 51 dB to 572dB – similar to a radio or TV

As you can see here, the massage devices don’t take much from each other at first sight. This is also true in practice. Both massage guns are very quiet and are very suitable for relaxing massages in quiet environments.

Nevertheless, the Q2 is slightly ahead in this category. This is because the C2 makes a kind of beeping noise on the low settings, which is a bit annoying.

Material and Quality

In many categories, the Bob And Brad C2 and Q2 achieve very similar results. The same is true for these.

The material of both massage guns is mainly plastic. However, this does not detract from the appearance. Both the C2 and the Q2 have a very high-quality feel to them. In addition, the handles are coated with rubber.

I also have nothing to complain about in terms of workmanship. The edges of the massagers are clean and without edges or anything like that. All gaps are also kept small.

However, both massagers also have a small weakness in common – the smell. This initially seems somewhat unpleasant and chemical. This is often the case when rubber is used. It only fades away after a while.

Price

I paid around €90 for the Bob And Brad C2. This is also in line with their typical price (~ $80 to $90).

For the Bob And Brad Q2, my purchase price was 70 €. When I tested them shortly after, the price was around $70.

This puts both devices in a good price range for mini massage guns. Personally, I would tend to choose the Q2 from this point of view. It is cheaper and also has the edge in most other categories.

Conclusion Bob And Brad C2 vs Q2

The Bob And Brad C2 and the Bob And Brad Q2 are both good massage guns. Both have a lot in common throughout. If I had to choose one model, I would prefer the Q2. The main reason is that it does a much better job of covering the requirements of a mini massage gun:

  1. The Bob And Brad Q2 is much lighter than the C2. This is also due to its much smaller size, which makes it more space efficient to carry around.
  2. At the time I made this comparison, it also cost less than the C2.
  3. Overall, the Bob And Brad Q2 is quieter than the Bob And Brad C2. It also doesn’t emit a beeping noise, which is the case with the C2 at low levels.

Nevertheless, buying the C2 can also make sense. It is not a classic mini massage gun, but a combination of small as well as normal massage guns and thus a combination of the features from both worlds.

So you have to decide for yourself what you expect from the massage gun. To help you decide, I have listed the advantages and disadvantages of the devices here:
