Bob And Brad Q2 Mini Review

The Q2 Mini is, as the name suggests, the mini massage gun of the Bob And Brad brand. Accordingly, it is particularly handy and small. But how does the massager perform in terms of functionality, quality, and so on? That’s what I want to find out in this test report. For this purpose, I ordered the massage gun online and subjected it to a detailed test.

Summary

  • Bob And Brad Q2 Mini is a very good mini massage gun.
  • Even among the small massagers, it is one of the lightest.
  • Likewise, it has a very low volume. Accordingly, it is ideal for a relaxing massage.
  • The massage could be a bit stronger. In particular, the impact depth of 7 mm is rather low.
  • On the other hand, the power levels are well balanced. Thus, I could notice clear intensity differences between the individual levels.

Scope of Delivery and Attachments

The Bob And Brad Q2 Mini was delivered to me in a small black box.

The appearance of the box is typical for the massage guns of this brand. However, what is more important is what is included inside. The scope of delivery of the Q2 Mini includes the following:

  • 1 x Bob And Brad Q2 Mini
  • 1 x Ball Attachment
  • 1 x Flat Head Attachment
  • 1 x Fork Attachment
  • 1 x Bullet Attachment
  • 1 x Cushion Attachment
  • 1 x Carry Bag
  • 1 x USB-C Cable
  • 1 x Manual

This basically provides everything you would want in a massage gun. Personally, the only thing missing was a power adapter. So you have to use the one from a cell phone or buy an additional power supply.

Very good, on the other hand, is the number of attachments included. Mini massage guns often only come with one to three attachments. The Q2 Mini, on the other hand, comes with a whole five attachments. These cover the most important application areas:

The ball attachment is the standard attachment for massaging medium to large muscle groups. This massage gun is no different.

The flat head attachment is also suitable for massaging larger muscles. Unlike the ball attachment, however, the surface here is smooth and flat. This makes it particularly suitable for massaging the chest and thigh muscles.

The fork attachment has a gap in the middle. This allows ligaments, tendons, and bones to be left out. As a result, the fork attachment is very good for massaging the muscles along the spine or the calves, for example.

The bullet attachment has a small contact surface. As a result, a large force is concentrated on a small point. The massage with this attachment is correspondingly intensive. That is why it is used for the treatment of trigger points, for example.

The air cushion attachment absorbs shocks and thus reduces their force impact. This makes the massage feel less intense, which makes it suitable for sensitive as well as bony areas. However, the Bob And Brad Q2 Minis cushioning could work a little better.

All in all, the Q2 Mini is one of the best mini massage guns in terms of attachments. On the one hand, this is due to the large number of attachments, as already mentioned. On the other hand, the attachments are of the highest quality, appear very stable, and are optimally processed. In my opinion, that’s how it should always be!

However, as with (almost) all mini-massage guns, no attachments made of metal are included. So if you want to perform a massage with oil or sports gel, you need additional attachments, or you have to buy a massage gun with the appropriate attachments.

Functionality

In total, the Bob And Brad Q2 Mini has five power levels with the following shock frequencies:

  • 1st Level: 1,800 rpm
  • 2nd Level: 2,100 rpm
  • 3rd Level: 2,400 rpm
  • 4th Level: 2,700 rpm
  • 5th Level: 3,000 rpm

Thus, the massage gun covers quite a large frequency spectrum. That is very good, as it is thus versatile. Nevertheless, I would have liked the impact frequency to be a bit lower on the first level. This would make the massage not too intense, at least for beginners.

Otherwise, the massage felt very good in my test with the Q2 Mini. There was also a noticeable difference between the individual levels. I only have one point of criticism, which is typical for mini massage guns: the depth of impact is far too shallow. It is here just 7 mm. This makes the massage feel more like a vibration massage. The deep tissue is thus not reached in any case!

Usability and Handling

A great advantage of mini massage guns is their handling. This is also the case with the Bob And Brad Q2 Mini. This weighs only 0.96 lbs (435 g) without the attachment. With the ball attachment, the weight is insignificantly higher and amounts to 0.99 lbs (448 g).

This makes the Bob And Brad Q2 Mini very light, even for a small massage gun. This, in turn, means that even a massage over a long period of time with the device is hardly associated with effort.

Furthermore, the massage gun is very compact. As a result, it can be easily grasped and lies almost perfectly in hand. A rubber coating on the handle and a slight indentation also ensure that the massage gun does not slip out of your hand too quickly.

The operability of the massage gun is also on a good level. There is a single button for the entire operation. When this is held, the massage gun’s motor starts. Simply pressing the button switches to the next power level at a time. By holding the button again, the motor turns off. This is really easy! The current level is displayed directly on the handle below the button.

Power Supply

Inside the Bob And Brad Q2 Mini is a battery with a capacity of 2,500 mAh, which is a decent value for a mini massage gun. This is enough to run the battery for around 2.5 hours, as my test showed. The actual runtime depends on the level used. The higher it is, the faster the battery drains.

There is a light directly on the handle to indicate the battery status. This indicates the battery charge as follows:

  • 30 % to 100 % battery charge: blue light is on
  • 20 % to 30 % battery charge: red light is on
  • 0 % to 20 % battery charge: red light flashes

This is not particularly accurate, but it is perfectly sufficient for common use.

The battery is charged via the included charging cable. This can be plugged into a socket with a common power adapter. Alternatively, the battery can also be charged on a PC, power bank, etc. This takes about 2 to 3 hours for a full charge.

I have to criticize the fact that users cannot replace the battery themselves. As a result, you would have to replace the entire massage gun in case of a defect. That is, of course, much more expensive than buying a new battery. Accordingly, there are deductions from me in this category.

Noise

I measured the volume of the Bob And Brad Q2 Mini in operation from a distance of 40 cm. I was able to get the following values:

  • 1st Level: ~ 46 dB to 47 dB – similar to light rain
  • 2nd Level: ~ 48 dB to 49 dB – similar to birds chirping
  • 3rd Level: ~ 48 dB to 49 dB – similar to a quiet radio or TV
  • 4th Level: ~ 50 dB to 51 dB – similar to quiet talk
  • 5th Level: ~ 51 dB to 57 dB – similar to a radio or TV

All in all, the volume of the Bob And Brad Q2 Mini is very low. This concerns all levels. Thus, nothing stands in the way of using the massage gun in a quiet environment. It can therefore be used without any problems, for example, to treat tense muscles in the office.

Material and Quality

The Bob And Brad Q2 Mini is primarily made of plastic. In addition, some rubber was used on the handle. All in all, the device does not look quite as valuable as a metal massage gun. Nevertheless, it makes a solid and, above all, stable impression on me.

I can’t say anything negative about the workmanship, either. The workmanship is completely flawless. Also, all the gaps are very small.

I have to criticize the smell a bit. In itself, the Q2 Mini from Bob And Brad smells simply “new”. However, if you smell the handle, you notice an unpleasant chemical smell due to the rubber. This often indicates plasticizers and similar substances.

Price Performance

I paid around 70 € online for the Bob And Brad Q2 Mini myself. When I wrote the review a few weeks later, the price was around $70. So the massage gun is not cheap. Nevertheless, it is relatively inexpensive for a mini massage gun. Other models cost at least $100. For this reason and the fact that the massage gun tended to convince in the other categories, I rate the price-performance ratio as “Good” to “Very good”.

Conclusion – Bob And Brad Q2 Mini Review

Summary

The Bob And Brad Q2 Mini is not one of the very best mini massage guns, but it is in a very good range. It combines the typical strengths of a mini massage gun with its typical weaknesses.

On the one hand, the Q2 Mini is very light, fits well in the hand, and is effortless to use. It is also very quiet in operation.

On the other hand, the massage depth is suboptimal. The motor could also be stronger.

Also, the Q2 from Bob And Brad is definitely one of the cheaper mini-massage guns. Accordingly, I can recommend it to anyone who is looking for a very good mini massage gun at a fair price.
