Ekrin B37S is the top model of the brand. The Ekrin B37, on the other hand, is its predecessor. At first glance, the two massage guns look the same except for the color. But which one of them is better? And which of the two should you buy? I’ll tell you on this page. For this purpose, I bought both massagers myself and tested them in detail.

Scope of Delivery and Attachments
The scope of delivery is listed in the comparison table above. Therefore, I will not list it again here.
You can see from the list that the B37S is supplied with more attachments. Specifically, a cone attachment and a cushion attachment are included, which are not included with the Ekrin B37. The latter is especially useful, as it is intended for massaging sensitive areas of the body. Accordingly, the point in this category goes to the Ekrin B37S.
Apart from that, both massage guns could convince me here. The quality of the attachments is at the highest level and covers the essential fields of application.
Functionality
In terms of functionality, let’s first look at the speed level of both massage guns. The Ekrin B37 has the following five levels:
- 1st Level: 1,400 rpm – Release Tension
- 2nd Level: 1,800 rpm – Recover + Flexibility
- 3rd Level: 2,200 rpm – Deep Massage
- 4th Level: 2,600 rpm – Relax Fatigued Muscles
- 5th Level: 3,200 rpm – “Wake Up” Muscles
The Ekrin B37S, on the other hand, has the following five speed levels:
- 1st Level: 2,000 rpm – Release Tension
- 2nd Level: 2,400 rpm – Recover + Flexibility
- 3rd Level: 2,900 rpm – Deep Massage
- 4th Level: 3,200 rpm – “Wake Up” Muscles
- 5th Level: 2,400 to 3,200 rpm (alternating speeds)
When comparing the two massage guns, two things can be seen:
- Only the B37 has true five speed levels. The fifth level on the B37 merely circulates through the other four levels.
- The Ekrin B37 covers a wider frequency range. Especially on the lower levels, the impact frequency is significantly lower than on the B37S.
Especially the last point is noticeable during use, as I could determine in my own test. In addition, the two Ekrin have the same stall force of 56 lbs. The higher stall force makes the Ekrin B37S feel much more intense. It is therefore more suitable for those who already have experience with massages and massage guns. The Ekrin B37, on the other hand, is also very suitable for beginners but also for advanced users and athletes.
The amplitude of both massagers is 12 mm. This is a very good value. Accordingly, you can feel the massage deep in the muscles.
Usability
The two massagers are controlled in the same way. Both the Ekrin B37 and the Ekrin B37S have a single button on the top for this purpose. When this is held down, the motor turns on or off. Once the massager is turned on, a quick button press allows you to cycle through the levels. It’s easy as pie and very quick to learn!
Accordingly, this category has a clear draw between the two massagers!
Handling
There are also virtually no differences between the B37 and the B37S when it comes to handling. The weight of the massage gun is 2.13 lbs (965 g) without attachment or 2.18 lbs (990 g) with the ball attachment. This is not particularly lightweight, which is noticeable during longer massages. You should have some strength here to be able to hold the massager effortlessly the whole time.
On the other hand, it is positive that both massage guns from Ekrin have slim handles. This compensates for the higher weight. It is easy to grip. A rubber coating also prevents slipping. The length of the handle also makes it possible to massage hard-to-reach areas on the body by yourself.
Power Supply
As with the previous categories, there are virtually no differences between the B37 and the B37S regarding power supply. The Ekrin B37 has an integrated battery with 2,500 mAh. The Ekrin B37S has a battery with 2,550 mAh. The battery life is similar in both devices, about 4 to 6 hours depending on the level used.
The battery status is also displayed in the same way via four small LEDs:
- 80 % to 100 % battery charge: four lights
- 65 % to 80 % battery charge: three lights
- 40 % to 65 % battery charge: two lights
- < 40 % battery charge: one light
Accordingly, the battery indicator is quite accurate. I can’t criticize anything about charging, either. In both cases, it can be recharged within a few hours via the included power adapter.
Nevertheless, I have to deduct one point in this category for both the Ekrin B37 and the Ekrin B37S. The reason for this is the fact that the battery is not replaceable. In case of a defect, the entire massage gun has to be replaced in each case.
Noise
I measured the noise level of both massage guns from a distance of 40 cm. I obtained the following values for the Ekrin B37:
- 1st Level: ~ 47 dB to 48 dB – similar to light rain
- 2nd Level: ~ 50 dB to 51 dB – similar to a conversation
- 3rd Level: ~ 56 dB to 57 dB – similar to road traffic
- 4th Level: ~ 54 dB to 55 dB – similar to road traffic
- 5th Level: ~ 63 dB to 64 dB – similar to a vacuum cleaner on short distance
My measurements, on the other hand, determined the following volume for the Ekrin B37S:
- 1st Level: ~ 51 dB to 52 dB – similar to a conversation
- 2nd Level: ~ 58 dB to 59 dB – similar to road traffic
- 3rd Level: ~ 61 dB to 62 dB – similar to a vacuum cleaner on short distance
- 4th Level: ~ 61 dB to 62 dB – similar to a vacuum cleaner on short distance
- 5th Level: ~ 53 dB to 62 dB – see other levels
Thus, the volume of both massagers is in a pretty good range. The B37 is considerably quieter than the B37S on the first and second level. Only on the top level are both massage guns so loud that a relaxing massage is no longer possible. However, this is not necessarily problematic for massaging the muscles after sports.
Material and Quality
Both massage guns look virtually identical. But externally, not only is the appearance the same. Also, both Ekrin massagers are mostly made of plastic. Nevertheless, they make a high-quality impression due to their matte surface and modern color scheme.
But the workmanship also plays into it. It is at the highest level in both cases. Here you can see that the B37 and B37S belong to the same manufacturer.
There was a slight difference in the smell. Rubber smells slightly chemical when it is new. Both massage guns have a rubber handle. Therefore, I assumed that both have such a smell. However, I could only notice it on the B37. The B37S simply smelled new. Since the smell quickly dissipated even with the B37, but this is only a very small point of criticism.
Price
I bought the Ekrin B37 from a private seller for about $230. Normally the price of it is around $225 or $185 with a coupon directly from the manufacturer’s website.
I paid about $330 for the Ekrin B37S. That is also their price on the manufacturer’s website and amazon at the time of this review. However, with a coupon code (e.g., MGG20), you can lower the price significantly when you buy it on ekrinathletics.com. So subsequently it only cost $247.50 when I wrote the review.
All in all, both massage guns are thus among the higher-priced devices on the market. Nevertheless, the Ekrin B37 is quite a bit cheaper than the Ekrin B37S. The performance in the remaining categories is on a similar level. From a price-performance point of view, I would therefore recommend the Ekrin B37.
Conclusion – Ekrin B37 vs B37S
It’s hard to pick a clear winner between the Ekrin B37 and the Ekrin B37S. You can already see that from my rating. Here, both massagers received 9.3 out of 10 possible points. Therefore, I would advise you the following:
I recommend the Ekrin B37 to you if you are a beginner when it comes to massage guns. It puts out a good amount of power, but less than the B37S. Moreover, the lowest level is also for beginners as it is not too intense. On the other hand, at higher levels, you can feel the massage deep in the muscles. In addition, the B37 is a lot cheaper than its successor.
On the other hand, I would recommend buying the Ekrin B37S especially if you already have experience with massage guns and intense massages, as the massage with this device feels rather intense. Also, the B37S is probably the better choice for athletes and professional users, as it can apply greater force.
In either case, you get a very good massage gun for the money!
